Air Conditioning Installation and Condensate Pumps
Condensate Pump
A condensate pump is a small piece of equipment that prevents excess water from overflowing from an Air Conditioning Installation in Tulsa OK unit’s water collection tank. This keeps the floors dry and reduces the risk of mold and mildew growth in your home.
As the temperature of warm, moist air is regulated through the cooling coils, the condensation generated by the process rises to a level that lifts a float switch and activates the pump motor. This water is then pumped out of the system into a drain pipe or tube (usually flexible plastic tubing) that conducts it upward to a building’s drainage system.
Some condensate pumps have a two-stage feature that offers backup in case the liquid continues to increase after activation of the first stage. If this occurs, the second stage engages, either turning off the HVAC system or triggering an alarm.
